We’re thrilled to share the latest updates to bilabl in January 2026, packed with new features, enhancements, and improvements designed to make your experience smoother and more efficient. Here’s what’s new in this release: 

Introducing new feature: Document Automation

A new Document Automation feature is now available to help reduce manual effort when creating and managing documents

With Document Automation, bilabl automatically generates standardized folders and documents based on predefined client and matter conditions, eliminating repetitive setup tasks, ensuring consistency across all matters, and significantly speeding up document preparation.

These folders and files can be created either directly in bilabl or in integrated storage platforms such as SharePoint and Google Drive, allowing teams to continue working seamlessly within their existing document environments.

In addition, the system also automatically fills out common information (client names, addresses, or contact details, etc.), reducing manual data entry and minimizing errors.

Task & Subtask improvements

Task management in bilabl has been enhanced with the introduction of subtasks, along with several improvements designed to help you better track and manage your work. Key improvements:

  • You can now break a single task into multiple subtasks, making complex work easier to plan and manage.
  • Tasks now support overdue reminders, helping ensure important work is not missed.
  • You can export tasks and subtasks to Excel or CSV files for reporting or offline review.
  • New grouping options are available to help you monitor tasks and subtasks more effectively, including grouping by due date, user, status, and priority.
  • Task descriptions now support images and tables, allowing you to provide clearer and more detailed information.

In addition to these key enhancements, this release includes further improvements to tasks and subtasks to enhance your overall workflow.

Enhanced Notes for seamless team communication

Team collaboration just got better with an enhanced Notes feature designed for faster and more seamless communication across client, matter, task and billing.

With this updated version, users can easily start conversations directly within bilabl and stay informed through in-app and email notifications.

Mentions now include threaded replies, making it easier to follow discussions, and keep conversations organized. Reactions are also available, allowing team members to like comments, while quick mentions with screenshots help provide clearer context.

In addition, a new side panel allows users to quickly view notes related to a specific client, matter, or billing, helping teams stay aligned without losing focus on their work.

In addition to the major updates above, this release includes several other enhancements aimed at improving overall usability and flexibility across bilabl.

  • bilabl now supports adding multiple payments/transactions, providing flexibility in financial management.
  • Matters can now be moved to another client, as long as no invoice has been issued.
  • Users can now create and manage their own billing templates, providing more customization options.
  • Several client-related improvements have been introduced, including automatically recording the onboarding date when a client’s status changes to Client, displaying custom hourly rates in table views when available, supporting the jurisdiction field during client imports, and enhancing table views and exports to include all client addresses.
